Hello everybody here at bit-tech.net. This is going to be my first major mod of any kind and can't wait to get started. I have some ideas already on what I want to do with my case but I need to get everything before I start. I hope I have a great time and get a lot of responses from you guys and girls.
lol, hunger? I hope this mod will feed some hunger hopefully. The case I have is the Chieftec Matrix MX. I will take some tomorrow until then I hope the link will do justice for my case.
Here are some pics to feed your hunger. Sorry for the picture quality. Not the best camera out there. Front view. Front view with lid open. Side view. Side view with side panel removed. Back view. Questions and comments are welcome. EDIT: Updated pics.
Closeup view. Well, as you can see in this close up, one of the internal 4 bay 3.5” cage is very close and over one of the CPU brackets which I think will interfere with mounting a heat sink/fan. So what I am going to do is cut up the cage and make it a 2 bay 3.5” cage. That’s the one of the main projects. The other project is to replace the door with a garage door type thing that will act like a garage door that will slide up and down. Yea the camera I have is the Polaroid Digital 320. I got it for xmas a few years back.
Does anybody know where I can find some mods/tutorials where people hacked/cut up there internal 3.5" cages?
for one of those chieftec dragon/matrix based designs, to remove the mounts for it, just take off the bezel, find the right rivit, and then drill it out. it should come out pretty easily.
Yea I see thats how people take care of rivits. haha. I was wondering how the went about cutting up their cages.
I got some new stuff today. A Polaroid PDC 3035. Yea I know its not the best camera, but it’s a huge jump from what I use to have. SO that means new pics. Ya! Also got a Dremel Multi-Pro model 395, which is nice. I can’t wait to start cutting things up with it. One question before I go to sleep. Where do you guys get your metal/Aluminum? Home-Depot? Lowe’s? What is the usual price it ones for? Thanks guys and have a good night. EDIT: What I plan to do is make the case about 2 inches longer so the drive bay cages don't hover over the MOBO and block stuff. Has anybody done or heard of this before? Here is a pic of my dremel. Small little thing it is. I hope it packs a wallop.
Update: Saturday, June 4, 2005. Well, I pretty much stripped my case down to nothing, and going to extend its width/length from 17 inches to about 20-21. So only thing really I am going to keep from the original case is the front and back panels, the drive cages and brackets for them, and motherboard tray. I am going to have to make a bottom and top and hopefully, I can find some side panels that will fit, so I don’t have to make them. Today I am going to do a little shopping at Lowe’s and Home Depot for the materials to start fabricating the new case. Tell me if you want pics of the case of what it looks like right now, and I will get some posted when I get home from work tonight.
