Modding Modding with XLR plugs. How much voltage does stuff need?

    Ok, the name of the thread might be unclear, but what I want to know is how much voltage does a (for example) CD-rom need. Because the XLR plugs only have three "outlets" so that some plugs will have 5V, and some 12V (because the red wire is 5V and the yellow is 12V right?). So I can't have one XLR plug with both 5V and 12V like a normal molex plug (I believe).

    So if any of you have any experience or knowledge with or about XLR plugs, please share it with me:)
