PC Spec. the problem is whenever i burn cd....be it data or audio...the cpu usage hits 100% all the time....i have already installed the Adaptec ASPI drivers. change another cd-rw drive but the problem still presist. I dont know wuts wrong with the pc. can anyone help me
Nothing is wrong it your comp, burning takes a significant amount of system resources. Plus your system is a little dated as well. When I had an XP it did the same thing until it was finished.
Thinking about it though, my first CD-Writer was on an old 166+ (Cyrix or something, can't remember) with 32MB RAM - and that worked fine. Although it was Win98 and Easy CD Creator.
Your CPU usage shouldn't be anywhere near 100%, even with a slow Duron. Usually this type of problem is solved by updating your drive's firmware but it can also commonly be an issue with the IDE drivers or settings. Redownload the latest mobo drivers, install them and then check that DMA/UDMA is enabled in Device Manager.
It was PIO then i enable DMA. Shut down the pc....but the problem is still there. I'll try the original drivers that came with the mobo...
its not out dated.... found out it was the crappy McAfee 2005 that caused this..when its disabled....all work fine..... NO 100% CPU usage.....average 20-25% for wma to cd audio and 03-8% for mp3 to cd audio
You haven't got anything dumb enabled like auto protection have you? It might have been scanning the files as Nero loaded them into memory to burn them, but that is a just a guess
Norton and McAfee are both over-rated bloatware and I wouldn't recommend them even if they were free. The latest version of AVG is an excellent and FREE antivirus program although there are others too.
sorry for the late reply @ConKbot of Doom means the TDK is good? yup McAfee. @JADS Norton has more functions like you can select some folder not to be auto-scaned, like for bt d/l folder @Austin Yeah norton alwiz cause problem, same goes to McAfee which doesnt detect virus unless u do teh manual scan AVG used it last time...will give it a try again...bye bye McAfee
