some one in a forum asked how they should go about putting a window in a TT shark case!

I just so happened to have one sitting right here! so it hought id give it a go,

Could be a great way for those who own sharks to actually see how good this mod looks!

the mod took 40mins start to finish, but id say 2hrs max.

Jigsaw with a fine metal blase, dremal, pilot drill and a hot glue gun were used with a small peice of 100g sandpaper to smooth metal edges.

In case your not familiar with the shark :)

    Remove the side panel
    [IMG]

    Mask up and mark out.

Cut using a jigsaw with a fine metal blade.

ive cut the area oout on the window so it will still have its orig intended side vent.

Peal the protective layer off the plex and glue into place

    End result

On the case! Sharks never looked so good! C'mon TT this should be standard

    :thumb: very nice indeed!

TT definetly should make a replacement side panel for their sharks!

Very tidy looking cuts too ;) If I didn't know already I would have guessed that it actually was a pre-mod panel.

But if such a window was standard, you wouldn't be as proud to be a modder would you? ;)

Nice and clean work, but I never understood why people put in windows that show drive cages and stuff. Those are usually the least interesting things to look at in a case.

If you can find a local sheet metal retailer, as for
    Hexagonal Mesh, 9/32 Staggered perforated

You might be able to find some locally in your country with that description.

    Excellent job DÈF¥âÑt¸.·´¯`¤!

I've got a Shark lined up for later on, and have been thinking/drawng ideas out... you just inspired a slew more!

    Excellent work, as usual!

    Cheers guys :)

Good to hear TD :), i added this front mod aswell. its comming inside to be used as my server and adding 5 large drives to the front posed a cooling prob.....

This isnt perm!! im waiting for some diff mesh to arrive, but you guys get the idea.

as you can see the back of the door is 100% solid..... aircraft grade alu solid!!!

But! you can see "above" thet the UGLY as F  ck plastic fascia behind does have adequate venting!

    Remove the front alu paneling

    The "Naked shark"
as you can see the shark with its "battle armour" removed...theres no way this thing can deliver frsh air to its HDDs

    Removing the door.

The door pulls down into 3 main sections.

the slatting, its armour and the door itself.

First thing is to mark out ther area where i'll be cutting fresh new holes....

The panel masked up with the new holes cut, this job chewed thru 4 blades!!!

    this metal is tuff.. bewarned!

A qik test to see how it fits up.

Next is to cut and bend to shape the 3 Grills that will replace the metal slats.

I could do this by simply placeing a peice of mesh behind the arch.....

but this wouldnt look pro, just an easy way out.

the method im using here is to bend the mesh over a peice of wood.

Using a rubber mallet to get the shape...v.ery easy with streight lines.

    testing the bent mesh.

    after mesh # 2

Mesh #3 and the extra side peice is also replaces so it matched the rest.

The mesh grills are held in place for now with hotglue.
When the front panel is bolted back onto the door it will hold the grills in place..

Next is a bit of "black backgound masking" this will hide the cuts and allow the mesh to look sharper.

with the door mounted back on the case

Re-attach the front panels with the screws

Silde back in the Veritcal strips and whaala...

With the new "windowed" side panel the shark is looking pretty darn impressive

Slip a lite down the back and your starting to see some pretty cool lighting.
