LCDC is the program of choice. Many plug-ins, easy to use.

    LCD Smartie
Reccommended by Cheese right here on Bit Tech, in the LCD/VFD FAQ sticky , which is right at the top in the Electronics forum. Third post down. It supports all Crystalfontz LCD screens, all parallel screens with the HD44780 controller, and all Matrix Orbital screens. You also don't have to pay 20 dollars for the program. Enjoy!

LCDsmartie is very good and getting better. It does have a winamp spectrum analyer plugin and it works a treat. Give it a go, it's free.

Hes looking for a volume indecator level in the style of a VU meter. To my knowleg only LCDC (best program ever) has the VU meter style. You could go other to their forums to talk with the createtrs or over LCD Smarties to see if they support it. Hope this helped.
