    Cooling my heat spreader fell broke off!

    I would'nt put the heatspreader back as they say you will get a nice drop in temps. If the cpu is workable why dont you have a aftermarket cpu...

    I cant do a repair of windows.

    I do believe you can use the recovery console on the xp cd and perform a chkdsk /r /p this should solve the problem for you.. If not a full clean...
