I'd use a solenoid to pop the door open instead. Magnet to hold the door shut, then a push type solenoid to pop it open. :)
I wouldn't set your hopes so high with cutting aluminium. The router spindle speeds are too high to cut aluminium in one or two passes at 5mm...
