    I took a risk and connected the grounds together and nothing bad happened, so I guess my problem is resolved! thanks for your help. Omid

    Thanks for the Welcome! The prblem is that it doesn't work, the 5 V signal provided by the instrument is not 5V compared to the DSP ground....
