Going to read the other posts first, before I suggest cars that have already been stripped of your possible-list. Sorry for the post.

Can't speak for any of the others but I can vouch that the Fiesta ain't half bad for long drives.

Leather seats get a little sweaty maybe but certainly not uncomfortable and the leather seat are an optional extra and not many have them.... :)

Its still essentially 'small' car though (albiet a quick and good handling one :)) which IMHO just aren't as good on the motorway - less stable at high speeds due to their aerodynamics and shorter wheelbase, more wind and road noise, more cramped interior.

Nowhere near as relaxing as a 5 series...far more fun to take for a blast down a winding back lane, for sure, but if you do a lot of motorway miles a Fiesta ST is not really the tool for the job - its just not designed for it.

Certainly wouldn't argue against that! :D

Still, not as bad as many small cars I've had or been in. :)

    Another twist to the saga...

whilst bumbling around the internet, I stumbled upon a site selling import cars from Japan and there is an '03 Nissan 350Z GT with 69K on the clock for £13,995 (apparently the cost includes 12 months parts and labour and conversion to full UK legal requirements).

Apart from the fact it's an import thus higher insurance and the fact that has a very high mileage and the vehicle is more difficult to trace with regards to its history. What do you guys think? Any foreseeable problems?

I'm very, very tempted by this.

Pesonaly I would never spend that much on an imported vehice, with that milage and probably not a great deal of history.

Still s2000, S-line A4 or merc for me.

Yeah, I wouldn't fancy splashing that much on an import, unless it was for a very rare car that's not available in the UK... :)
