First please don't start three threads about the samething on these forums you have to wait for some answers....

The for £300 there is not much to match that package, but because it is so cheap means it really is the absolute lowest sound quality out there.

If you are willing to save a bit more or stretch you funds a little further you can get better quality.

    DENON AVR1604 - approx £199

    or

    MARANTZ SR4400 - approx £250

Mordaunt Short Premiere - approx £270.

This would give you far better features, volume and sound quality.

Just my pennies worth, the marantz sr4400 is £220 at richer. Just for the amp mind. Worth every penny in my opinion, the sound quality really has blown me away and im only using some old technics speakers at the mo.

for 300 squiders you are looking at the all-in-one package like the sony dav-s.. the yamaha you are interested is ok though.. not much can be had for 300 squids

:duh: Not all in one systems.......they are terrible- seperates are the way to go. Yes they cost more, but you will be much happier with the sound quality. In my opinion- although you don't need to listen, if all you can afford is a "home cinema in a box" jobby- I would leave it till you have a bit more cash.

<edit> just looked at the link in your original post- should have done that first!!- it seems you are looking at the HTR5630 amp. I have that one myself and I am incredibly impressed with it. Not too sure about the yamaha speakers though. I would do what what I did: buy the amp from richer sounds for £160 and then look around for speakers. I got some very nice (brand new- still sealed up) eltax speakers from ebay at 1/3 of the RRP  <edit>
