So I need a PSU. It will never be powering more than a mid ranged GPU (560 at absolute max but more likely 550 or similar ATI) and low to mid range CPU with 4gb of ram, 2HD. PSU list is a bit out of date so I thought I'd ask you fine folk for your opinions! Thanks very much Ash
Would have thought Corsair CX500 would be good for most cases. Is a version 2 with some improved components incoming over the next few days/weeks so I'd wait for that.
This one looks good. On the limit of your budget, but should allow for plenty of upgrades down the line; plenty of power on tap here.
Antec High current Gamer 620w (currently £47.99 on Scan's Today Only page) Corsair Builder Series 600w V2 (don't forget the V2 bit, £50.38 on Scan - not Today Only though) If you want to stretch another £5.99, you can get the CoolerMaster Silent Pro M (modular) for £65.99 on Scan's Today Only.
OCZ ModXstream 500W http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/ocz-5...-9721-0a3328ca1f02&istItemId=qwitlwi&istBid=t Quiet, modular and I've had one for over 18 months and no problems.
The Be Quiet is a very good PSU for £45. I would imagine that 530w will suit most needs if your not into SLI/XFIRE. I had one to power a P55 with an i5 750@ 3.83Ghz also a ATI 5850. Very very quiet indeed. 1 thing to remember is that the cables are not braded, and this is a real shame, other than that its a very solid peice of kit and somthing that i will use again in the future. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-042-BQ&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1083
The version 2? I got the CX500 as a downgrade when it was on special through SCAN to replace my SLI powering Enermax Galaxy 850W! Now my 500W UPS can actually support my old CPU should the power cut as it sometimes does!
