Lens Aperture: F/9 Focal Length: 17 mm ISO Speed: ISO-100 A man made damn in Princess Island Park, Calgary Alberta Canada. Just above the last set of rocks, between the lamp post and the darker trees sticking up is where I took the photo of the water fountains in the othger thread. Before I took this particular shot, there where three ducks swimming towards me from the lake. One came right in not knowing it might be bad. The other two waited to see if the first duck was alright, before diving over. Was kinda neet. Shame I never took pics of them. I really think you need to click for the bigger, full size pic. As there is much detail lost. The bed of water looks really quite neet. I'm considering blowing this up on either 8x10 or a full 13x19.
Nice shot, and good composition. Got the rocks at the foreground leading the eye in, then the line of the water fall traversing the image. Like it. Two quick suggestions: 1) Clone out that post. 2) Got an ND filter? Would like to see the same scene with a long-exposure to get that nice silky effect on the water. I'm a sucker for that.
No ND filter, but a set is on the list of things to purchase, along with a few new lenses I agree on that lamp post. I'll have a go at chopping it out. I forgot to also mention I used the 17-40 F/4L I borrowed from a friend. There is slight CR at the edges, but no where near what I get with the kit lens. Also, pictures are a tad sharper and have much better colour.
Bump - There we go. made that lamp post go away. Did a fine job me thinks. not used the clone brush that much before.
Just right of the middle, right at the back of the shot just in front of the trees, up into the sky. Looks better now
