Ok i get this error code when im greeted with the Blue screen of death - 0x00000024 (0x001902fe 0xf79026dc 0xf79023d8 0xf70c2f81)

I can not boot Windows XP normally, i can not Start it in Safemode or Safemode command prompt, i can not go to my HP recovery options ethier and lastly i cant do an clean installation of Windows XP.

I also have a secondary HDD which still works... Thing is when i try to boot windows from my secondary HDD it gets the Blue screen of death when i still have the main HDD hooked up, I have to disconnect my main HDD in order for me to boot Windows XP from my secondary HDD. The bios reads my main HDD so it must be working.. maybe it just needs to be formatted somehow i think.

I dont know what else to do.. I if some one can please help me i really really really would be thankful i have important information on the HDD some i have backed up but not all..

If you know any other way for me to Formatt the HDD please tell me im willing to do it, Its a 300 gig maxtor.

First of all... welcome to the forums :thumb:

Unfortunately... the way you've worded the problem, it's hard [for me at least] to decipher which of the two drives ("main"/"secondary") you can boot from, and which drive you can't boot from:confused:

In one sentence, you suggest "when i try to boot windows from my secondary HDD, it gets the BSOD".
But you then contradict that statement, by going on to say "I have to disconnect my main HDD in order for me to boot Windows XP from my secondary HDD"... which suggests you can actually boot into Windows using the secondary drive, but you have to disconnect the "main" drive before you can do so

So which of the two is it?
Can you boot to the desktop with only the "secondary" drive connected - or not? Or is it only the "main" drive with which you can boot to the desktop?

Once we get that clarified, we can hopefully offer further advice, on how you might be able to get your data off the non-booting drive?

Well i figured out how to fix the issue, My main drive was the HDD that wouldnt boot. I was just saying all is not lost because i can still boot Windows up on my secondary HDD. Well i downloaded the Ultimate boot CD and wiped my main drive clean and reinstalled Windows Xp on it.:cooldude:

I thought you needed to keep the data from the first drive? was this not the case?
