Overclocking 1.450v too much for Phenom II?

Running a native x4 3ghz 960t, overclocked to x6 4ghz (1600t). Voltage is 1.425v with intel burn test 1500mb, temps are 44/45c, similarly Prime95 gives these also. I tryed going 4.1 without anymore vcore but bsod. So is 1.450v safe for this chip and if so what temps should I be looking at, or rather not to exceed?

PhenomIIs are happy up to about 60 degrees, anything over that and you start nudging against the TjMax where the thermal cutout will kick in, you've gotta be careful to stay lower than 60, just in case something causes an unexpected temp spike.

Generally speaking; i'd say 55 degrees is an okay max temp.

Don't worry about the vcore. I've put everything up to and including 1.6V through my previous PhenomII, and it did it very little harm from what I could test on my end.

Ran P95 for 40mins, max temps 47c and 48c for few secs then dropped again. Will run a 2000mb intel burn test later

    Currently shes sitting like this:

id personally stick to 1.39 or below 1.4 and above is alot of volts

knocking it back 200mhz and 0.1v is better for your cpu than 200mhz extra and 0.1v higher

and you wont gain much performance either

Explain as the above 2 posters have stated otherwise? Do you mean in terms of life expectancy?

Plus I play FSX alot and every bit of mhz counts in that game.

In terms of life epectancy yes

And above 4ghz the benifits are small to performance gained in games that is a certainty. benchmarks will always show a gain what you see in real terms will not be anywhere near that. very few games run more than 3 cores let alone 6.

you could knock the .13 ghz of your overclock and go below the 1.4vcore range id expect.

if your doing photo and video editing your correct that every mhz counts. Temps dont kill your cpu over volting does is the basis of the story.

True, the .13 was automatic with the multiplier, I think therefore it should run fine and I will get benefits from it using FSX. Temps are important though as they regulate a higher voltage better yea? I got another BNIB 960t awaiting incase of the worst, but I wont be overclocking anymore until I get a full w/c rig.

I've run 1.7v through mine but I run water setup, not sure i'd do that with out, when running a long encode it gets toasty with all 6 cores loaded, I wound back my overclock to 4.1Ghz which is happy at 1.45v, the extra volts required for 4.4Ghz just weren't worth it for a minimal performance gain.

@AoE I was thinking of buying the same processor, how does it run with the cores unlocked and overclocking, things like games, video and real life tasks?

Keeping a Sempron in check isn't exactly difficult, however. Keeping a Hex Core in check at over 4Ghz is dramatically harder. I speak from experience.

You'll be safe if you don't go over 1,55V. If you go over that things might turn out badly.

Mines happily whiring away with 1.472V shove up its proverbial. Not had it touch above 50 even during stress tests
