As per title, assuming I can keep the CPU cool would 1.5V through the CPU be alright for benching? Primarily Geekbench :D

I put 1.451 through it to get 4.473GHz which was stable for Geekbench would going higher be fine for a few minutes at a time?

    Cheers guys :thumb:

Cheers for that Deders :thumb + rep So upto 1.55 on the vcore is ok in short bursts. No more than 1.21 on the VTT, 1.65on memory, 1.98 on PLL. I shall bear this in mind :D

Edit: After a quick look in BIOS, I found my VTT at 1.334V :jawdrop: Waaaaaay over Intel spec. Dropped it down to 1.176V, all seems fine. Just about to stress test. Can't believe I was that far over maximum allowed voltage, nor can I believe that the XMP profile on my memory sets this value to 1.4V :jawdrop:

Edit edit: After reading the Intel spec sheet linked in the link Deders posted, the voltages Intel say and the voltages the poster in the link say are different. Spec sheet says 1.4 vcore and 1.4 VTT are safe. So confused lol

The geekbench test will end up with someone blowing there rig lol. I've been putting 1.6v through my sandy. It will all end in tears I tell you. But that's the whole point in us building these rigs, to push them to the max while having fun. Yes it won't be funny when they blow but who cares. Go for it as long as you can keep those temps down.

That's what i was wondering, but as it opened in a web page i couldn't search for 1.55v, might save it and have a look.

I had a quick look through some of the other tables on the spec sheet, but nowhere could I find 1.55v. Seems the original poster knows more than Intel :hehe:

and jizwizard you have no idea mate lol I left my rig on in BIOS (fiddling with voltages) and I left my 2 year old son playing happily nearby. Came back a minute later to find him sat in my chair innocently watching the TV. To my horror he'd messed about in BIOS and maxed EVERY VOLTAGE :jawdrop:

Over 2V through CPU, memory etc. A shed load through VTT and PLL and God knows what else. The ESC button was mashed into oblivion and nothing was saved. Phew! :hehe:

Moral: Don't let children near BIOS.

There is a whole load of charts that might need cross referencing if you have the patience to read through it all properly.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to 1.445 or below, that's what my board suggests. I don't think I have the patience or level of understanding to read all those charts.

There are adults that could apply to aswell. I built a rig for a friend who thought he knew more than he did, he got curious about messing with BIOS so I slapped a password on there so I knew he couldnt mess!

Keep my computer in my trousers, an interesting idea/mod lol

I know a lot of adults like that boltonuk007, but this was of my own doing haha

I had i7 860 for 3 years... Mostly ran it 4ghz with 1.45 vcore in bios and 1.44 CPU VTT. CPU was still fine when I sold it a few months ago. I always liquid cooled it. Even so it could reach 65c in summer full load at 4ghz. I had it as high as 4.3 a few times with HT disabled.

I had set CPU VTT as high as 1.45 and 1.5 vcore a few times. No issues.

I can get to 4.473GHz on 1.451 vcore and 1.334 VTT but it isn't quite stable. But thanks for that, I now know I have more headroom voltage wise without that much risk of blowing something up.

Yup, your i5 750 should OC quite well. Some of the pro review sites used to quote 1.35 for CPU VTT but many people went beyond that. I never had a problem with 1.45 VTT in bios.
