While I question the need for this feature at all, imposing artificial limitations like this is what REALLY irks customers.

Wtf this is ridiculous, it's not as if people are going to go out any buy an entire new Intel based system just to use 10 way calling on Skype. They're just making sure they're decreasing their user base; a fine business plan...

I thought more people used AMD cores now. Isnt this seriously going to limit the user base??

Someone will crack it. Simple as tbh. It's a bit of a silly move though, how will your generic joe-bloggs user know if he has a Pentium D - CD CPU? Most people go all glassy-eyed as soon as you say CPU. :p

What a bizarre move - a totally arbitrary restriction. Intel must have paid handsomely for the exclusivity, otherwise why would Skype agree?? As you say, who would want to conference call with 10 people anyway? I've been on con calls with 5 or 6 people, and to be honest it just gets confusing working out who's speaking, and everyone ends up talking over the top of one another.

I think the reason skype did this deal is because Intel paid the $$$.

    This is retarded. Really is.

This is really, really odd. Not like Skype uses a lot of CPU in the first place.

Well I was just going to say that, but TS can't make non-internet calls. Of course if you're using Skype it's not an issue for you, but the nine guys at the office you want to chat with might not have that option. Personally, I can't ever find a good place to stick a mic (and I hate headsets of all sorts) so I'll be sticking with my landline.

So... let's think. When's the last time that forcing unnecessary requirements on the end-user (esp. for the sole sake of signing a profitable deal) made the customers happy? Yeah, I couldn't think of one either. "Runs best on Intel" is one thing, "runs only on an inferior product because they were willing to pay more" is shooting yourself in the nuts.

I think intel wants people to think that their dual cores are twice as powerful as AMDs or their own single core CPUs.
