Well done, I have faced addiction before and only got past it when I met my wife and my life changed in a matter of weeks. It is so hard but it gets easier when you are not around the people who did the substance with you before and you are not thinking about it all day.

I must be at about 4-5 years now. That 1st year anniversary will soon come and although you will be the only one to really appreciate it it is a great feeling.

    Again big congrats!!!

Thanks again guys. I always check back here for inspiring words to keep me going. I appreciate it. Its been over 9 months and I cannot wait to hit that 1 year mark. My life is certainly better without alcohol.

    I've just had a thought.

Are you nerdy enough to celebrate socket day numbers? 478, 775, 939 and the like? :p

Congrats on getting so far though man, good effort!

I don't know if I am nerdy enough to celebrate socket numbers, but I do need to celebrate more. I plan on doing something for nice for myself when I hit 1 year in the next few months. As of right now though, I don't think about drinking, which I wasn't sure I would ever do. That is a cause for celebration right there. Hmmm, N/A beer anyone?

Well done. Keep it up. My dad just die from alcohol abuse. Only took 5 years. On bear and cider.
The last two he lost his job and it was down hill.
Keep it up and stay healthy. Rep added

Agreed. Although I don't get to post very much in general here, its the place to go when I need help, or say, a boost from the friendly members. It will be one year this month since I have had a drink and I must say, all of you who posted made it easier for me.

Thanks again and I again hope sharing my experiences helps someone else out there. Also, if you need a listening ear, don't hesitate to PM me.

Cozmo87, Sorry to hear that man. Not everybody makes it out.

Well, I think I am going to join the sober party. This year and last year there have been too many times where I have woken up not remembering how I got home or people telling me stories of things that I have done which I do not remember, and this has to stop before I kill someone/myself or wreck my entire career.

Maestro your ability to go this far has made me want to start down the path myself.
