Hi, Just wondering which mid range to high end cooler solutions people would recommend and why. Would be great to hear personal experiences.

Freezer 64. Why? Really cheap. Reasonably quiet.

Dark Rock Advanced. Why? Reasonable performance. Really quiet. Looks cool!

But I'm loving the watercooling right now... Super performance. Looks ace. Best!

Noctua NH-D14. As long as you have enough room in your case it's one of the best air coolers (IMO at least)

I'm using a Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced. It cost around £40. Fitting was a little awkward as it requires a backplate but you don't need to do this often. I have it cooling a Core i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5 ghz. Using the Prime 95 blend test the temperatures max at about 62degrees which is great. The other thing is it is inaudible in use - the fans spin so slowly I had to adjust my bios to prevent a fan error message when posting.

I can recommend Corsairs series of H coolers (all in one liquid coolers) al ong with others such as the antec kuhler h2o 620. Of course these are all dependant on you having a space for a 120mm fan or two along with the radiator.

If you want to stick with pure air cooling the the Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced comes highly recommended.

In my personal opinion you can't best a slick looking custom water cooling loop (although they can become very expensive)

I agree, the Dark Rock is probably the best Fan CPU for the 1155 series, and its not that expensive and worth the little extra hassle to fit it.

I'd go for the Arctic i30. Super quiet and near enough matches the Dark Rocks for performance at a fraction of the cost.

Bit-tech seem to like the i30, but Ive never tried one.

However, I do like my Gelid tranquilo as it is very quiet and gives good temps. Never over clocked with it mind.
