Vienna, August 16th 2006 - Noctua today presented the NH-U12F, the new version of the NH-U12 CPU-Cooler, which has earned over 100 awards and recommendations from leading international web sites and magazines. The NH-U12F can be rotated by 90° on all sockets, boasts full compatibility with AMD's new AM2 socket and comes equipped with a Noctua NF-S12 120mm fan, which has a minimum noise rating of only 8dB(A). Thanks to the 4 Dual-Heat-Pipes, 38 aluminium cooling fins with a total surface area of more than 5000cm² and soldered joints for optimal heat-transfer, the Noctua NH-U12F achieves superior cooling performance at minimum noise levels.

"With the NH-U12F, we have implemented the 3 most frequent customer requests regarding our NH-U12 cooler: A mounting system that makes it possible to rotate the cooler by 90°, AM2 compatibility and the addition of a sound-optimised premium fan", explains Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "The NH-U12F is a well rounded, complete, high-quality solution that provides maximum performance and quietness."

The NF-S12 fan used on the NH-U12F is equipped with a magnetically centred, self lubricating oil-pressure bearing and employs a novel rotor which was developed by the Austrian Institute for Heat-Transmission and Fan Technology (Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, ÖIWV). Thanks to the special optimisation of the blade geometry towards ultra low noise application, the NF-S12 achieves a flow rate of 81m³/h at a mere 17dB(A). Using the supplied Ultra-Low-Noise adaptor, the noise level can be lowered to only 8dB(A)!

The new NH-U12F fits socket 775, 754, 939, 940 and AM2 and can be rotated by 90° on all sockets to allow for an optimal positioning of the cooler within the airflow inside the case and to evade compatibility issues with non-compliant chipset coolers and RAM modules.

"In addition to factors such as cooling performance, quietness of operation, long-term stability and compatibility, we attach great importance to the reliability of the mounting system", says Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "The SecuFirm™ mounting system of the NH-U12F makes it possible to safely transport the assembled system without any risk even though the cooler exceeds the 450g weight specification established by Intel and AMD."

Noctua's SecuFirm™ mounting system guarantees optimal contact pressure and maximum security thanks to the use of a backplate and spring-loaded screws.

    Technical specifications
Detailed specifications of the NH-U12F as well as the supplied NF-S12 fan and background information on the Noctua Straight-Blade-Design and the SSO bearing can be found at www.noctua.at.

    Prices and availability
The NH-U12F will be available by the end of September. The recommended retail price is EUR 54.90 / USD 64.90.

    About Noctua
Noctua arises from a cooperation between the Austrian Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H and the Taiwanese Kolink International Corporation and entertains a development partnership with the Austrian Institute of Heat Transmission and Fan Technology (Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, ÖIWV). These connections form the key to the development of sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria": The partnership with the ÖIWV permits the application of scientific measurement instrumentation, methods of calculation and simulation technology in the R&D process. Rascom's long, customer-oriented experience in developing and distributing sound-optimised high-end products ensures a clear focus on the users' needs. The use of Kolink's advanced manufacturing technology and ultra-modern production plants allows Noctua to efficiently implement its technical edge and provide solutions of the highest standard in quality and performance.
