Like you said, the island might be UK anyway. Better find another location .... perhaps with some tropic climate.

maybe get a big ship, anchor it in the middle of nowhere, put up broadband satellite internet and voala, instant pirate island in a place that has no copyright law.

To be honest I can't see this stopping Pirate Bay in continuing, but looks like a major blow for them.

I suppose there will be an island somewhere that will allow them to do what they want...

If they did that, whats to prevent 'accidents' to the ship in question? :p

Our copyright laws here in Canada are pretty weak/lame/non-existent. They are more then welcome to come over here. :D

We have no intention to flee the country, we just want to expand (and maybe proove a point...). But if Canada is for sale, sure. ;)

Somewhere in the Caribbean maybe? where do I sign up? :D

Sorry, there are those who claim we are already owned by big businesses (multinational corporations are the real pirates of today IMO).

Sadly, there are still real pirates out there (link)

Send up a satellite with some servers on it, no law up there is there? Although it may become a target for China, or the United States.

Quite honestly, I think it's great this happened- I already dislike TPB.

"Prince Michael", absolute poppycock, if he is royalty of any type I'm the queen of Norway.

With an arse like that, you should be :p

I dislike TPB anyway, it's nowhere near as good as it used to be, the trackers don't give out enough data.

I prefer other places like Mininova and BTJunkie for my legal downloads.

Prince Micheal is just a douche bag. Of course he sells to the highest bidder no matter who it is. He doesn't fool me nor the world.

And The Pirate Bay may seem like a cool thing for neo-revolutionaries who want to redefine laws for their own benefit. I don't like the way MPAA and RIAA hold up with their DMCA. It removes consumers rights and offers to sell it back in small quantities which is totally wrong. But just by continuing software piracy "in your face" like that doesn't do any good. One should get an agreement on how to let consumers keep their rights while still making sure the intellectual property owners get their fair share.

But that is outside the scope of this debate really.

I would like for Sealand to be independent. Why should it not be?

international law also states that when a nation increases it's national waters it may not take over any peices of land or other soverengt nations in the process. adn as it's stands the UK recognises sealand as a sovereing nation and therefor is not subject to UK law. anything that happens on sealand is a sealand matter. while the "prince" is working there he is not subject to UK taxation either.

Norway's not that big. I say we invade and set up: Fly, Queen of Norway!

Nah, I suspect you wouldn't look that good in a dress and wearing a tiara (unless you are actually female in which case I apologize and officially petition my government to invade Norway). :D

The UK doesn't recognise it as a sovereign nation. Nobody does, it simply tolerates its activities because it is a very small tadpole in a very large pond.
