The non-working bugs may have been the fault of both Apple and MS, but IMO any hardware that can be irreparably bricked by a new OS should be blamed on the manufacturer. With the exception of the installation of new firmware (which should in any event be capable of reversal), there should simply be no way by which software can break hardware. As such, I blame Apple.

Out of interest, does anyone know if Apple will, without charge, repair / replace iPods that have been damaged in this way?

Maybe Apple though it worth the p*** off iPod users to give Vista some more bad press.
Then again, maybe the iPod and/or M$ guys are just incompetent.

... dunno which is worse :D

the MS wanted to break iPods plan is ludicrous.

they would simply go out and buy another one and likely stop using vista, which would be a major hit to microsoft, and as such would be a stupid business decision.

Gates & co are smarter than that.

Does this fix work for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista?

MS releases updates for both (unless it's platform specific), so yes.

I didn't even know there was a problem with the iPods, my Nano worked perfectly with iTunes and I had no clue I could have bricked it during that time! Thank god I never update my songs. Stupid Vista, I can't wait until I'm dual-booting XP.

same for me, probably because I use the obvious 'eject' button in itunes, rather than 5 more commands through the other ejection system...

yea, that is what I was doing too. Or right click on the removable drive inside "Computer", and click on "eject".
