allways useful lol! Sorry about the password requirement ATM, i just got that damn "You have used 80% of you bandwidth for this month" message, so i have locked this tutorials image DIR ATM. i will try and reduce the size of the images a bit because the andwidth throughput was insane... (like 2 odd gig in 2 weeks... (about 10 4%'s = 40% then i have USED 4100 mb this month, which is 2 gig) :duh:

On the four button version, if I don't include the LEDs, do I still make connections to pins 5 and 7?

This is exactly what i need.. im off to maplins right now to get the bits!!

[edit] got all the bits, and spent some time designing my first ever PCB layout.. first in photoshop & paper and then into a trial version of some pcb design software..

think ive got it right.. but if you can see any flaws let me know..

(i know i dont have the led on here.. see no need for it)

its only for 10 buttons, but this is 3 more than i need anyhow..

according to the schematic posted earlier.. the pins on the left are (from the top)

    6
    1
    8
    9
    4

    hey
im thinking of making one of these to work alongside my parallel lcd to control winamp on a pc using ONLY the winamp remote and the lcd as a 'media' box.

i cant seem to find suitable switches ANYWHERE. id like them to be small, in fact the same ones in the pics that youve got.

can someone provide a link to maplins for the switches?
also, anyone willing to sell any of the diodes cheap at all?!lol.
    thanx

just thought i would point out a problem with this:

push switches 1 and 2 together and it will see switch 3, same with the others, you might want to stick a chip inbetween the switches and diodes that will eliminate multi button presses.

pretty much any signal diode will work on this, i have a few hundred here if anyine wants to buy any, but rapid and maplins both sell them for about 1p each...

i would not reccomment the switches i used, they are pretty poor really... (and expensive)

If you want cheap diodes, buy them from techsupplies.co.uk, 1p, they have cheap resistors etc too, as well as the amazing picaxes.

    I'm a bit confused.
is winamp only for music? Or can you use those buttons to do something else
    ( like: undo or something).

    winamp is for movies/music...

of what i can remember the only external things you can make this thing do is open other programs... otherwise its mainly to control winamp..
