In this post I am going to be writing about the computer that i am planning to build after I receive my xmas money! Processor: AMD Athlon 64bit 3700+ 1mb cache= £100-£120 Mobo: Asus A8N-SLi SE nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard= £60-£80 Harddrive: Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 200GB SATA-II 16MB Cache = £70-£90 Graphics: Nvidia 6800GT 128mb = £100-£120 RAM: unbranded 1 GB DDR, PC3200. = £35-£45 PSU: Franks 420watt Tagan. = Free P-ex Case: One from AUT, quite little. = £20-£40 Drives: CD-RW, DVD-RW combo drive. = £25-£35 Wires/coolers: All needed coolers and wires. = £10-£20 Total costs: £420-£550 Approx (Average): £485.00 If your thinking that I will need to spend more on the coolers, just let me say: "I AM NOT AN OVERCLOCKER AND AM NEVER GO TO OVERCLOCK AND REDUCE THE LIFESPAN IN MY HARDWARE!" 'lo joe I se you finally jioned up You know what i'm gogin to say, get the 256mb 6800gt it's soo much better than the 128mb. Also for you that don't know this is mainly going to be bought from ebay, hence the lower prices
Welcome to Bit-Tech! The spec is looking quite good except for a few things: This is the most important thing. It's advisable to get hold of some quality branded RAM - such memory is usually pre-tested and most of it comes with a lifetime warranty. If that generic stuff fails, you'll be stuck with a worthless piece of fiberglass, metal and silicon that isn't capable of anything. I would recommend purchasing a model with 256MB of memory. Modern, graphically intensive games will need this, especially if you are running at resolutions of 1280x1024 or above. P.S: In future, be a bit more conservative with the emoticons
