I think the performance of mini PC's is so good now that I dont need to spend loads on a traditional huge case and lots of expensive large components.

My next computer is defiantly going to be a nice small one and mini itx 2.0 does look quite good.

    here is a neat idea:

Mod one right into a desk (with appropriate heatsheilding) and have the screen be the desk surface. my screen of choice would likely be a wacom cintiq.

the pc would definately be top drawer and as minimalist as you can get (puns intended)

Now some half hight graphics cards would be nice with this. Shame they are bloody hard to get hold of, at least thats my experience.

And I do hope that these motherboards are cheaper. One had to pay a lot for a Commell mini-itx-express motherboard (without CPU!!).... :wallbash:

mh its quiet nice, but the J&W 780G in itx-format is much hotter...

it also has 17x17cm size and also got a x16 slot...
another good thing is, that it supports up to 95W TDP "Phenoms" (so atm just the x3s), and are capable of Hybrid-CF....
all in all this is much faster than the via product...
I think it will all end up like 200 pounds for the board, 4050e, 2gig so-dimms ddr2-800 and a HD 3450...

mini-ITX will not be cheaper. You have to pay a premium for the small size. Smaller always means more expensive. Just look at laptops. Miniaturization is a difficult thing.
