What, if anything, is observed and/or celebrated to commemorate this event in the UK?

I celebrate that everyday, even though I am British and live in a crappy lifeless country with rubbish weather, at least I'm not Spanish.

Nothing unfortunately. Britain has soo much history, if we were to celebrate every event, nothing would get done.:D So the powers that be choose not to celebrate. We're a bunch of party poopers here. Shame really cos we have alot to take pride in. :blah:
