The Twilight of Peace is over! Space Marines line the horizon as the sun rises behind them, ready to face off against the coming swathes of Tyranids. This is the advent of a new age; the Dawn of War...again. We take a look at Relic's latest strategy opus to see if it's any good.

Great game, im so glad they fixed some of the massive multiplayer bugs on release day (though it would have been nice to test them before then)
    T
I just hope they release campaigns for other races later (for free! learn from Valve! their sales go up 100% every time they release a content update for TF2)

I might have to get this (and an upgrade to play it tidy) I played one game against the AI in the beta, and really enjoyed it - but it took far too long to boot up on my system (about 15 minutes between clicking on the launch game and actually getting the splash screen and a further 10 mintues between starting a match and actually playing). Playing the game itself was fine, no slowdown or pauses during play (which with the length of the load time actually getting into a game I was a mite concerned about).

The system I played on was an AMD Athlon64 3500+ with 1GB Ram, nvidia 6600 GT OC, running on Win7 64 beta.

Ive bought my copy (Amazon price was a steal..) plus once you buy the retail copy, you activate by steam, and then it becomes a 'steam game' in your Games collection, meaning all patches and updates come via steam... including a download of it again in future if you want. Thats decent.

I havent played it yet... seems daunting thinking about learning it!

I got the call Monday saying that my collectors edition had come it, I haven't had a chance to go get it yet, not like i can use it with a fried motherboard though lol.

From what I have seen, read about and experienced, this game really reminds me of Warcraft 3 and DotA.

I have mixed feelings about this game. I played the beta a bit and I was hoping it to be more supreme commanderish with even more units than dow1 on-screen and a bit more room to zoom out.

If theres any mods coming out that brings back the feeling you had in dow1 when you had a huge army just spraying wildly at the enemy and massive slaughter going on in the middle I might buy it though :D

Having been a big fan of the first one when I played the beta of this I was horribly horribly disappointed until I played it lots.
Sure its not the same as DOW 1 however its still fun, just different :)

What would be the point in having the same game as DoW 1 anyway, we already have that game.

Oh yes... Roll on the patches and the Expansions please. I'm so getting this when i can get my hands on it.
There is a lot of micromanagement, but have any of you played the tabletop game? You get attatched to the individual figures somehow.
    Love the universe.

    Assault Marines, damnit!

    Jetpack troopers.. Lawd.

Been playing it for a week, I'm more miffed that the level cap is 20 than anything.

Is it me, or is the Farseer kinda cute for a pile of pixels?

That's mainly because you have lovingly (or sometime unlovingly) painted every individual model.

if you're playing co-op campaign you control TWO (2!) units, if you cant micro 2 units you should probably just go back to playing lego star wars or something

    thanks, will look into coop.

for multiplayer (beta), there's too much micro. it's like Sins of Solar Empire with only capital ships, which is not as fun as full out battle.

Taking out base building is a terrible idea. I played the beta and thought it was awful. Is there anything new with release that could possibly redeem it?

Sums it up quite well. No base building really limits multiplayer, way back when when they said there wasn't going to be any I hoped it would be for campaign mode only. I'll keep hoping that in a future update the relic/thq bring the aspect back.
