Makes perfect sense. As does changing nVidia to nVIA... :)

Atom would be in deep trouble if NVIDIA and VIA promote Nano+Ion2 machines as the true mobile gaming platform. Yet, we still can't really find Nano products in the open, let alone Ion 1.

I hope NVIDIA could give VIA the push they need against Intel's Atom bullying.

Well, it's obvious that Intel have plans to try and go it alone, without any partnerships, so it makes perfect sense for nVidia to try and go out to get some new friends to play with.

Nehemiah (or its successor) + Ion could really be an Atom-beater, Via certainly have a lot more experience in the low-power market than Intel.

I would say the scope is much wider. Both AMD and Intel plan to make chips that combine CPU and GPU abilities, and it's also very interesting to offer a complete platform (Chipset, CPU and GPU). As you can see, NVIDIA is left out with it's sole GPUs and chipsets and VIA with it's CPUs and chipsets. I must also remember that NVIDIA has it's chipsets being contested by Intel.

The idea is to defend the company in the long term, business-wise.

this is great news with the nano apparently outperforming the atom (although not being availible anywhere!!) the ion should go from strength to strength (well relative strength!)

Would a merger between the two companies void VIA's license?
