News Mozilla launches plugin security check

The Mozilla Foundation has launched an innovative plugin checker which helps Firefox users ensure that they're not opening themselves up to security issues with the plugins that they have installed.

Problem is that it relies on the plugin publishers to update their own information - and since any system is only as strong as its weakest link, this is a fairly major flaw.

i think there is nothing stopping others firefox from puting there own warnings on there

This is a good idea and I hope to see it rolled out across all browsers. Of course IE users will have to wait for Google to release the patch for IE.

 

It's a good idea. Fibblebot, the way I see it if the publishers don't update their information and problems are reported, the Open Source community might just whip up an alternative.
