Despite the fact my system can barely run this I couldn't resist the £11 pre order price and I'm upgrading soon so should be A-OK.

The game itself is quite fun and at this price it's well worth it and I can say with almost 99% certainty that this will be a benchmarking game for hardware testing.

Requires a DX10 GPU? So that means it uses all the DX10 goodies? Oooohhh shiny... pre-ordered on Steam.

I'm glad they're doing the DX10-only thing, but 5$ says people with DX9 will buy it and then get all butthurt that they didn't read the required specs.

This might be a stupid question but is the 8800GTS 320 better or worse then a 8800 GT. I know the GT is newer but I can never remember if its better or not. Dam NVIDIA and their crapshot naming.

EDIT: The Shattered Horizon website has a link to a "testing" page.

Unsurprisingly my work PC fails, but hopefully my home PC wont.

I always thought the 320 and 640 versions used the older core and were either slower, or just (over) clocked less than either the 8800GT 512mb or the 8800GTS 512mb. I could be wrong though. Either way if they are the min specs, I don't even know if its worth trying it, for me anyway.

While I am glad games are making use of the newest hardware, it better look properly insanely good, if it doesn't then it is just bad coding and proves that we have temporarily hit a bit of a hardware plateau, in terms of the power we NEED.

Not a bad price for a multiplayer only game, pre-ordered on Steam.

And I will laugh at them since they should have had dx10 capability 2 years ago!

So.. we'll get DX11 games just as DX12 hits the desktop :)

I was in the closed beta, and it is a pretty awesome game. Unfortunately I couldn't get the most out of it - my system's ancient and I'm not upgrading until January! :(

However, I can attest to the minimum specs - I've got a 939 Athlon X2 3800+ OC'd to 2.5GHz, 2GB DDR500 and an 8800GT 512 OC and I could hit a decent minimum FPS of about 25 - with everything turned all the way down mind. Don't have any solid numbers though, I kept forgetting to turn off the benchmarking while I was playing before the round ended! Definitely a fun game though.

Should also mention, if you've bought any 3DMark's over the years, order through Futuremark's website. If you do that, you can get 25% off - the same as the beta testers - through your ORB account. Just wish I could get all of the discounts - 10% preorder + 25% beta tester + 25% 3DMark customer = very happy gamer!

True gamers play in the z-axis!!

That sys req. site is rubbish though, asides from not having an i7 920 it also things my computer is way way below minimum. Which it most definatly is not

    Pre-Ordered on Steam!

I am looking forward to returning to Space. Beware Humans, there will soon be a Romulan hunting you, and if history is any guide it will not go well for you!
