That's some huge difference between minimum and recommended, the graphics must scale practically to pixel art!

it hurts when your computer begins to sink to 'recommended' levels instead of superduper high end it was 2-3 years ago...

Like all MMO's it's got massive scalability in the engine. The question is how good it looks at the top-end?

Is this a micro-transaction-based MMO or is it subscription?

Alpaca: Very true - mine doesn't quite meet the minimum specs for Shattered Horizon, which makes me sad. :(

What?! AMD and Nvidia have far superior IGP chipsets, why is that listed?

The Intel one is most common, so its aimed at that market ;).

Wow, for once my rig nearly matches the recommended specs for a game.

I'm so looking forward to this, does anyone know when they'll be doing an open beta?

@Krikkit - have you seen some of the screenshots on the official website? It looks pretty sweet, especially the space bits.

    Same question about the subscription.
Krikkit !?! [your pc specs] Really? I think it should be mandatory for the mods and all BT staff to have their regular and a High-end rig at their homes. I think it's time for some of us readers to send in requests to get you another rig for the purposes of 'cough cough' improving moderating latency.

IIRC the mods don't get paid? So he would be upgrading with his own money for his own e-peen, can't say I'd be willing to do that for bit-tech :p

I had the same moment. Leaving aside AMD/nVidia integrated parts, there is a BIG difference between the capabilities of the AMD/nVidia minimum specs (7950GT/X1800) and the Intel minimum specs (I assume they mean the X4500HD). There is simply no contest.

    So, X4500HD is OK, but the 3200 (780G) / 4200 (785G) and GF8300 (AMD) / 9300(Intel) are not? What a load.

It's probably a question of how much Intel paid to make sure the game could run on their IGP....

They've clearly designed the game to be able to run with the Intel IGP mentioned, though I'm sure that means with all the sliders turned down and very low resolution. You could be sure that if it can run on Intel IGP, it would run on nvidia or ATI integrated as well.
