Don't these come standard in the bottom of the Silverstone FT02 case? Edit: my mistake. The FT02 has 3 x 180mm Air Penetrator fans. Specifications Model No. SST-AP121 Color Transparent blue UV fan blades, black frame BEARING Fluid dynamic bearing RATED VOLTAGE 12V DC START VOLTAGE 5V DC RATED CURRENT Max 0.33A (Actual) 0.09A RATED POWER Max 3.96W (Actual)1.08W SPEED 1500 rpm Effective airflow range 1 Meter AIRFLOW 35.36CFM STATIC PRESSURE 1.71mmH2O Air flow 2.5m/s (measured at fan exit) NOISE LEVEL 22.4 dB(A) Noice reduction Includes two speed reduction cables LIFE TIME 50000 hours DIMENSION 120mm (L) x 120mm (W) x 25mm (H)
Just hope it doesn't sound like a jet engine like the "typhoon" or delta's did with those vanes on the exit.
Or then it could be they gave the ACTUAL specifications instead of some marketing BS. While I'm pretty skeptical I'll wait for SPCR-review. To me it just feels like current fans have had enough time to evolve as good as they get, it will take a bit more than a couple of plastic pieces to really make a difference.
I am going to assume that vortex won't actually happen if you stick it on the end of a watercooling radiator?
AP121 does the trick. I got 2 of these to test out on my Thermaltake Frio, as the fans on the Frio are not very good. They were pushing air everywhere. I understand that these are supposedly meant for air circulation in the case, but they made a difference straight away and brought the temps down by atleast 2-3c. They also keep the temps stable as in staying put. My Frio was about 39c when started and got hotter as time went on up to 44c. These fans keep it at 37c through out. OH and they are silent.
+1, read Bit's fan roundups (and anything on SPCR, +rep'd for mentioning that great site ) and learn that nothing fan manufacturers say about their product's performance is true at all.
Me being silly, I puchased 4 of these from Scan to mount on my quad rad. They are a bit quiet than the Noctua's that I use, but I felt as if they weren't pushing air right through the rad. My verdict is that they are good for a case fan (intake), but not so good as a rad fan.
