This is what I was hoping to see -- now the gloves are off, lets see what AMD has in store with their high end cards (If they can sort out their rumoured fab problems.)

This card is just a beast and im on the verge of buying one, but as the review says it is foolish to rush in and not wait 13 days for the hd 6970.
Im not keen on the power consumption but I suppose thats what comes with a top of the range card like this, no doubt cayman will be the same. Also driver revisions may also bring sizeable improvements.
Still very impressed at how it matches and surpases the 5970 which is dual GPU, so this card is definitly a better option. I seriously doubt cayman will top this performance wise but maybe with less TDP it could be better option, not sure

someone at Nvidia really got their finger out, finally.

Now I just hope AMD beats this one, but that may be asking for a bit much as they are properly mainly working on getting the 28nm to perform properly.

but when ATI's new flagship launch, will there be any gtx580 left to buy?

£400 seems like an excellent deal, for me, it'd be a £200 upgrade when selling my 5870, which means huge tessellation performance increase, large RAM increase and amp memory bandwidth for my 2560x1440 resolution.

    hum..... very tempted.

Honestly I don't think they have any problems, they are just beeing secretive because they still have to unload all those HD5850/5870 out of the retail channel... Let's just wait a few days for the HD6900 reviews, but if the HD6850/6870 were designed to replace the HD5700 series (at sub 200), I'm thinking of a great, but really great HD6900 series...

Looks like just a fixed fermi, so ATI should have the upper hand with the 69xx

    Makes even more sense then.

Seems like a good GPU overall, but still, pricey!

So it has the same cluster sizes as the GTX480, and not the revised GTX460? And it has 512 stream processors? The same number that the GTX480 was supposed to launch with?

It's a "fixed" Fermi! This isn't even an updated Fermi 1.5, like the GTX460. It's what Nvidia promised to deliver A YEAR AGO.

^This and the fact every review I've read have all had the caveat of wait and see what AMD's 69xx have to offer in a couple of weeks time. That's got to be disappointing for nVidia.
