This article isn't very accurate. The Shattering occurs after server downtime tomorrow, not today. And the series of in-game events have been rumbling on for a few weeks now. Try to get your basic facts right, I'm sure you knew before writing the article that the changes are being rolled out today in the US, but tomorrow for EU?

As stated, the update comes tomorrow.

Cataclysm Events have been happening the last 5-6 weeks.

Actually, it is today in the States - tomorrow in Europe. I've adjusted the text of the article to meet the European date though, as that's where many of our readers are. I've also updated the text to indicate that The Shattering is the first major in-game event in the run-up to launch, which I believe stands true.

Actually the Shattering is pretty much the end of the in-game events in the run-up to launch. The past 3 weeks of elemental invasions has been the run-up event. As far as I know all that remains after the Shattering is 2 weeks of Deathwing flying around and setting fire to random zones.

    Greetings!

Is it because of this WoW event that Battle.net is so screwed up in Starcraft 2?
Reaching 4-5pm and the entire thing gets extremely slow.

"Blizzard will begun the first major in-game event"

That should be 'begin' right? I know you've had to change the day :p

Might end up signing up again at some point, but starcraft is enough to keep me busy for the moment!

Just noticed this bit. The return of Deathwing is what causes the Shattering. Him blasting his way out from deep underground upto the surface shatters the world leading to earthquakes, tidal waves and the reshaping of Azeroth.

Maybe the article was written after a press release from Blizzard?

Anyway, WoW was ruined for me when the last big patch dumbed down the game and its mechanics. Enjoy, those that get into Cat, but I won't be going back to it.

I was just thinking about this yesterday, how will blizzard be handling people buying or not buying the expansion if they are re-shaping all of the continents on Azeroth? Does everyone get the re-worked zones but no other new content?

Yes. The world changes apply to everyone but if you don't buy Cataclysm you don't get access to any of the new 80-85 stuff, archaeology, goblins and worgens, and flying in Azeroth.
