I recently decided to try a "PSONE" mod on a gamefactory Xbox LCD I had laying around. I got it into the pc but Ive ran into a few issues I would appreciate some help with. Ive attempted to fix this on my own but Im not having luck finding info. I somehow keep ending up back in this forum so hopefully you guys can help me out. I got it up and running easy enough but I cant seem to get it to display color through the pc. The graphic card, eVGA 7900GT, outputs fine, using S-Video, to my old living room TV but not the LCD. I assume it software but the PSone tutorials for powerstrip/tvtool dont seem to work on this LCD. The 640x480i arcade just gives me a black screen but selecting 640x480-1024x768 from the nvidia control panel works fine. Ive also noticed about a 1/2" of the screen not being used on each side, at every resolution. Its working great other then those two issues. Ive read a little about csync so far and Im not certain if this is my problem or just some settings. Im new to the whole LCD thing so Im not certain what I should serach for. Any links to sites with info would be appreciated or where I should be looking in the settings. While taking it apart I noticed a stange capped off square next to the composite jacks. Once I got it apart it looked like a spot for a VGA adapter that was never added? Anyways, The board behind this square has a set of 5 and another set of 3 open holes. Could this be a spot for a vga mod? I havent found anything when I searched for gamefactory but Im curious if theres a way to find out some info on this LCD or a tuturial on how to figure out which wires go where. Is there a specific site that might be able to help me out or maybe something on the LCD to serach by? I cant seem to find a model number. Thanks
You have to make sure that the screen resolution is in the same ratio as the output. That would be one thing to check. Its probably something totally different though. Just my possible easy fix. Doubtful.
Hi Practal, I have read somewhere (can't remember where though) of this problem (no colour on LCD's) and I believe that the problem lies in the output signal type; ie your graphic card is sending PAL but your LCD is NTSC (or vice versa). You have to adjust the setting so that both are using the same signal type. Hope this helps. I don't have any PSOne LCD mods on my PC, it's something that I intend to pursue when I have the $$. ARM
try shorting the two signal lines on the S video connector (effectively making it an composite signal.) As for the VGA input: try following the traces on the PCB back to a chip and search for a data sheet for that ship. You might find a pin description that can point you in the right direction.
I read about that prior to posting and it didnt help. I had tried changing from S-video to composite in the drivers but the screen goes black quickly. I was paying closer attention after posting and noticed a split second of color prior to the screen blacking out. I guess Ill have to buy a S-Video to composite converter and that should clear it up. Im not certain what that means. I just started looking up LCD screens yesterday, first one Ive ever used, so I have alot to learn. As far as the information I got off the LCD, now that I know where to look. It is a SamsungLTS500Q1-GF1 LCD with a Wiseview LTS5QTB 0142 controller. I dont think the original holes I found are for the actual vga connection. I found 14 points on the controller board with labels like R-Out,G_Out,B_Out,ect. and I think this is where I would solder it to. Ive still got to find more info on the unit but hopefully I can read enough to get this done by next week. Thanks for the help
