So I swapped my PC from my Antec300 to a Corsair 700D yesterday. I also installed some RAM I got 2nd hand. Taking my 4GB to 8GB. I've had two bsods since the swap. Details of the dmp and blue screen are below. The first said ensure that you clean install display drivers. So I uninstalled my ati card, driver sweeped in safe mode then reinstalled. Then the BSOD happened again with different codes. The second bsod seems to point more towards my RAM if i'm not mistaken from a small search. If anyone knows different please say.. I'm really hoping it isn't buggered. Is there anything specific I should look for in the bios to ensure it is set up correctly? But other than that, argh help! :x Please I'm using Win7 HP 64Bit, spec in sig (but 8GB Ram not 4).
I'm obviously guessing the memory is at fault here. Even if it was the case, the only issue it would have would be shorting out the board. I'd get in touch with whoever sold you the memory.
ugh Right so, i've done few things. See if they were a problem. Gonna link in HW forum, that gets more views. Got another crash 3 min ago. I have tested my RAM, each of the 4 sticks in each slot on mobo. All pass fine. I've totally clean reinstalled my GPU. I want to do a full HDD diagnostic, check etc and that SMART or w/e is all fine. But I don't know what to use? Any suggestions? Damn BSODS! Last dump file.. Anyone able to help?
Well i would run the rig for a few hours with just the original RAM and see how it goes. If its stable then swap out for the second hand RAM you bought and see what happens. I have purchased new RAM before and have it BSOD in one machine and not the other. If it BSOD's after that then re-seat your MB and check for shortages. You may also need to up the voltages a touch on the RAM with all 4 modules installed as maybe its a power issue (check whether its 1.65 or 1.5 etc). And there is also the update your BIOS option aswell. That should keep you busy for while anyways.
What are the specs on the original ram and the second hand ram? Have you tweaked the bios at all for the ram settings?
Hi Pete* Would you mind sending me a couple of your minidump files from C:\Windows\Minidump where I can hopefully analyse them? Cheers.
