Graphics 2 x EVGA GTX 580 Classified 3GB HC's arrived this morning :D

. I know 1.5 is not enough. If I had crap GPUs I'd get 2x 3GB now.. but these aren't too shabby, and hopefully Kepler won't be that long. We'll see. I blew around £2300 on gear last month... so for the sake of marital harmony, I may hold off for now. Blowing £1300 on GPUs this month will be a little too much to talk my way out of.

 

Yes, and I have had a epic 2 months of upgrades too.

Yea the 580 is a huge step in performance. Serouisly wanting to get into watercooling but havent done enough research and I would brick them incase of a leak lol.

 

Yup 580's are awesome! glad you like the card mate, just remember that card doesn't have an IHS so if you want a water block for it eventually you'll need to make sure it's the direct GPU block, I believe EK do such a block for when your interested

 

They are in, just need to do some baseline benchmark, the I will see what I can do.

 

Your GTX 580's have dual power cable/headers for the fans! Never seen that before on a GPU.

 

I love how the 580's look small on that SR2.

i hate you people! you are going to end up forcing me to buy another 580!

 

More driver issues than you can shake a stick at, plus 3 580's more often than not equals (in games at least) 2 590's, plus if for any reason you have a game that dislikes SLI, you can always disable it with a single GPU card, whereas you can't with a dual GPU thats my reasoning anyway.

 

1, it's not as fast as 2 580's
2, it only comes with 3GB (1.5GB per GPU, so you are limited to 1.5GB)
3, it won't overclock as far
4, you will start to max out the 2.0 PCIe x16 lanes, so you will be losing some performance.
5, Quad SLI won't be supported in many games, so at times you would get less performance than having a single 580.

well the EVGA logo on the size does, looks fricking awesome and goes quite nicely with my red/black themed build

 

All these 580 pics are giving my an itchy finger. I'm just going to keep telling myself "I don't need one, I don't game much, it won't be blue, I don't need one..."
