Hello, i'm trying too overclock my computer a bit. my goal is too reach 2400Mhz, but it won't run Prime with more than 2380:blah:. I have maximum Vcore voltage, divider on the ram doesn't seem to do any good and i have pretty low temps, what can i do?

    Edit: System in sign.

As you are using an XP3200 is it multiplier unlocked or are you trying by FSB alone.
If it's by FSB then maybe the RAM is maxing out, have you tried increasing the vdimm.

No, its an A64 "Venice", i haven't tried increasing vdimm, but since it didn't help with divider on the memory, i don't think that's the problem, mabye i scould try it anyway?

Sorry I didnt even see the A64 part :duh:

God, I really need to read the thread properly, didn't even see that you had tried a divider to reduce RAM speed.
So that sort of rules out the RAM or memory controler, leaving the CPU as the main concern.
What about lowering the HTT multi

You should be able to make 2.4ghz from a venice tbh, most of the winnies did that, even the poor clockers.
Can you post the settings your running? LDT multi, fsb etc, vcore and such. Check the sink itself, how hot is it getting?
Also, how long will prime run for before it fails?

    1.550Vcore
    238fsb
    10x multiplier
    HTT multi set to "auto"
    Vdimm 2.80V
    locked pci and pci-e
    Sink feels cold
prime just gave up on me, had run for about 40-45 minutes (longer than it usually does)
Can't think of anything else at the moment

What happens if you drop the vcore?
Manually set the LDT/HTT multi to 4* and see how that fares.

    hey
does it actually boot at 2400mhz?
if so, and you can do your normal stuff, i.e, use your fave programs/games then you should be ok.
my pc at 3.6ghz isnt quite prime stable but otherwise is as solid as a rock running games and the like so thats all that really matters, its the ram that was giving me the prime errors by the way.
    good luck.

LDT = HTT multi, its called different things in different bioses.

Interesting, it might well be that the CPU IS maxing at those speeds. Do you have any idea of its stepping/week or batch code at all?

Try increasing the chipset voltage a notch if you can.

You might have hit the CPU's limit regardless though.

Indeed thinking its the cpu's limit. If you drop the mutli a notch, try upping the FSB and see how much more you can push. This might indicate if its a chipset or memory limitation rather than a CPU :)
