I've narrowed my search for the perfect monitor down to two:

    Iiyama ProLite E2200WS (22" Widescreen)

    Or

    Belinea 20.1" Widescreen
    http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=21863

They have similar specs (nothing I can see that draws them appart greatly) and they have the same native resolution.

I would like some advice on which is best.

Will the 22" just make things look bigger? Is that a good or bad thing?

I'm looking to use the monitor for graphic design AND gaming. Visual quality is a must.

    Thanks in advance!

IM no professional on moniters but from those 2 the 22 inch seems better. I say seems becuase it has better contrast and response but ive never heard of either company.

That said you might want to look for something with HDCP. From what i read neither have the support. That means youll have no ability(er) to play full HD content off bluray/HD DVD discs. Atleast not at full HD it would be standard definition. Im not sure if that matters to you or not but for longevity your best to have HDCP.

Yes, each pixel will be slightly larger so things will be a bit bigger on the 22.

I went from a 17" TFT to a 19" TFT with the same resolution and have no regrets. The 17" put more strain on my eyes since things were smaller.

I'd go for the larger size.

Thanks for the tips. Does HDCP offer anything other than a higher resolution (I can't see any fault with current monitor resolution) - like extra contrast, more defined colours perhaps? Or is it just noticeable with the new video mediums?

I mean, I love the look of new high def TV's, but if it's just going to be noticeable on the new bluray/HD DVD stuff then I think it makes more sense to save the extra £200 it'll cost for a similar spec'd monitor.

tom_goodyear: I'm trying to picture the difference between a 17" and 19" with same res. (and 20" vs 22" for that matter!). Is it the case where the 17" is smaller, and the 19" is actually the natural resolution, or is the 17" the natural resolution and the 19" is 'bloated'? Do you get what I mean?

If we accept that the ideal resolution for a 17" CRT is 1024x768, which monitor would fit that 'size'. The 20" or the 22"? (really hard to explain!!)

Not only is the 22 bigger, Ilyama make ok monitors compared to Belinea, who used to make good CRT's but no longer make good monitors.
