See I'd go the other way - I'd rather slice off a nipple than drive an orange Focus, no matter how good it is. I'd take the Type-R civic anyday tbh, the new one looks fantastic, especially in red. (Although I miss that gunmetal grey they did the last one in, that was an awesome colour...)

The Editor of TR has one, and I have to admit the colour and style has completely grown on me. It's a brute to be a passenger in as well (in a good way), but that might also be because he has a sports cat and bluefin :D

The new Focus looks fugly - like someone has punched it in the nose and it's eyes have been squidged outwards. And I even like the new Mondeo that it apparently looks like too.

It looks more like an Opel or Peugeot concept, now. Overall, I just hate the whole "angular look" trend that's gone up the ass of most automakers. Finding a distinct look is becoming quite rare.

They really need to do a rear wheel drive, 350-400bhp version or at least fit an LSD (as per the Focus RS) and give it proper traction control. Just as long as they don't go back to a 4 cylinder lump that's all I care about :)

Both built by the same parent-group, designed on similar platforms, it's definately similar tbh. I do like the C30 though, the T5 looks brilliant, despite being a bit wet.

It doesn't really need any more power for a road car, just rear wheel drive and TC. For that kind of power you'd need a 6-pot which I doubt will fit that easily.

Well if it was made to be rear wheel drive the engine would no longer be mounted transversely - making plenty of room for a straight 6 (or even a light weight v8 :D) that you could safely eek more power out of. That said, Ford to my knowledge have ever done a i-6, it'd probably end up being a v6. :)

    Bi-turbo V6 please! :D

The volvo straight six is barely bigger than the straight five in the ST and would easily fit - putting the extra power down is where the problem comes from. Also the volvo inline 5 can come with a high pressure turbo pushing out 300bhp (as seen on the s60r, v70r etc.), so you can get more power from the inline 5 before needing the straight six. The straight six would be smoother however. The volvo engine is a bit dated now though, and it drinks fuel compared to its rivals (such as VAG's 2.0tfsi), so it wouldn't surprise me to see the next fast ford (rs possibly?) use a turbocharged 2.0l SCI duratec with vvt, to get similar power as the current st but with better fuel economy and lighter weight.
