Hi all, just for info but I managed to get some of my BSB pics into Bike Sport News! Really chuffed as its hard hard work getting editors to use your stuff. This is one of the shots they used: Lee Costello #39 - Halsall Kawasaki by Polarity Photo, on Flickr Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Easy to see why, bdigital that photo is awesome. And what a set up for the Moto3 final race, top 3 riders separated by 5 points, all the permutations are doing my head in thou
When results don't come in they always have to blame someone. Remembering Rossi brings a lot of money to the team as in sponsorship.
I wonder what's gone on there then, they've been together since 2000 and through Yamaha, Gorgeous George and Ducati, so there's got to be more to this than just 2013's results. I feel sorry for whoever gets the job next, how do you follow up the guy who crew chiefed Spencer, Doohan AND Rossi?
Kinda weird, isn't it. I recall that Burgess spent a bit of time in Australia earlier in the season? Maybe it was mutual but the press don't seem to be spinning it that way exactly
I did some reading, Mrs Burgess was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, which is why he missed some races. It sounds like Mr Burgess has decided that Moto GP is no longer where he wants to be most in life, which would be understandable, the guy's sixty and he's been crew chief to three world champions, it's not as if he has any need to stay in GP racing now.
Read a short piece about this earlier, sounds like one of the main reasons was, Jerry was non-committal one way or the other beyond next season and Rossi decided if I is to continue beyond next year, that he wants a crew chief who will be there until the end. Kinda sad in a way
Congrats with the photo's bdigital, It's always good to see people succeed With the Burgess/Rossi thing ... I think there's more to it. Burgess isn't getting any younger and the last few times that he's been interviewed on the grid, he's seemed a bit odd (almost not all there) It's probably for personal problems, he must have a lot on his mind. He has nothing to prove and is a legend, it's just a bit sad really
Theres an interview on motogp.com (reg required, free account) of the press conference between the two of them. It was a little awkward. I think I'd like to hope this is the whole thing boiled down:
Just about managed to pick my jaw up off the floor after MM pulled another ~0.4s on JL after having quite a few moments during the lap as well. Ridiculous stuff
My friend from Century TV is in Valencia this week for the final race. I am not jealous often, but this time it can't be helped!
Did anyone see MM drifting that bike in slow motion @ 130mph?! I want that as a wallpaper! [edit] British EuroSport just ran an emotion filled montage of 22 years of MotoGP coverage. Amazing stuff, some really talented cameramen, editors and techs cover this immense sport It's a pity to see more than 20 years of MotoGP coverage from them and 10 years from the BBC end. I'm not sure BT's coverage will be quite the same.
The 2013 season as a whole was pretty mental, I thought. MM may have won on points but JL in the 2nd half of the season particularly has ridden so ridiculously hard, huge respect there - that guy is tough as nails. Awesome also to see MM set a whole pile of new records; winning his rookie season and youngest ever winner not withstanding. Crutchlow 5th is great, Rossi in 4th also great, all things considered. DP once again the bridesmaid! And I will eat a massive piece of humble pie regarding Smith - he totally rode above my expectations. I actually predicted he'd be sacked before the halfway point in the season BT next year can get stuffed!
I think in the far future when Danni PEdrosa is long dead, his gravestone will read Could have won the championship if he hadn't gotten injured. If next year goes like this year, especially in terms of bike development, I'll bet 2015 sees Marquez and Lorenzo as team mates at Honda, which will be spectacular.
