And well deserved, I've never played any 'simple' game this much.

My question is: What exactly would I get from it? I can take over someones brilliant design, or could i destroy it? When i explore, can i come across other players or is it movements of cubes i only see?

I want to blow something up, like that picture in this article, the large grey tower...

Notch is Swedish, and he already was a millionaire.

Stories/news like these makes you wonder if what was previously known as the American Dream should be called the Internet Dream now. The internet has really helped "equalize" (for lack of a better word) opportunities.

It's no longer just big corporations that can successfully market a good idea. In many ways and specifically regarding games this hasn't been true since the "infancy" of computer gaming in the 80s.

Minecraft as such hasn't really wowed me, but I can certainly appreciate the effort and also its charms. I say Notch's success is welldeserved.

By the way, could've sworn I already posted this, but apparently not...

This game makes me want to play Lego Creator on my old Windows 98 PC sitting in the basement. I'm really sad those Lego PC games kinda died. They offered so much but with a bit more style and flavor than Minecraft ever gave me. There is an MMO Lego game I see on the steam store but I'm not looking for an online experience, just me, a buncha Lego's and my imagination.

£8.488 million if all the purchases to date have been at the 10 euro price.

pc EXCLUSIVE? i'm 90% sure there was a mac and linux version available too. i was going to try the linux version on my netbook but i realized how demanding the game was and how little my netbook can handle.

I'm with ya. I'm happy for the guy but I think his game is crappy and I only think it sold so well because of some weird viral hype machine gone haywire, based on the frenzied buying of people who want to try whatever everyone else is talking about, not based on how good the game actually is.

A "PC Exclusive" hmmm. Native versions for other platforms (I use OSX) and playable in pretty much any web browser.

Come on, part of it's success was it's ease of access. Anyone can get a feel for the beta in a browser!
