I was quite upset that the 3DS sold in singapore did not follow the US pricing ~SGD320 instead it followed japanese ~SGD399... and it still be released on the similar time to the US launch... and i still do not know the full list of games which will be sold here...

So...i'm just going to wait until the retailers deop their price :(

Cool item, but I doubt i will buy one as I haven't touched my DS lite since owning my iPhone!

If it was a lot cheaper it may of been worthwhile :(

Apparently battery life is dire. I heard recharging was pretty crappy too.

The cost can be addressed by trading in your old DS model to HMV and getting the new handheld for £110 (apparently). Seems a lot better than hanging on to an old model and forking out nearer £200 for the 3DS.

Mine arrives tomorrow ... I hope I get more enjoyment out of it than you guys did. Gaming on my iPhone has fallen off the chart completely since I got the iPad, but even then I seem to spend most of the time reading forums and tech site news than playing games on the pad ... I'm hoping the 3DS will re-ignite some sofa-gaming while the missus watches her TV.

Meh. iPod Touch / iPhone / iPad are superior gaming devices imo.

Yet another homerun by Nintendo. The ONLY company forcing innovation in the gaming "console" industry as everyone else is just following their lead. The iProducts don't even come close.

This will put even more money into their developements and it will eventually benefit us all.

    Well Done Nintendo.

Um, yeah. Did you actually read any reviews of the product?

not sure that this type of device has any life left - surely mobile gaming is a smartphone thing now? Just look at the economics - good games on android (what I got) are only £3-5 a pop if not free...

My impression reading your review is you were like "Wow, this is neat." until someone pointed out:

    "Wait a second, don't we hate 3D?"
"What? Oh crap. Yeah, we do, don't we?" (turns console off)
    "So it's rubbish then."
    "Yeah, I guess it's rubbish."
"And don't forget to call it a "gimmick" in your review."
    "Okay."

Interesting how 3D is a gimmick because it doesn't work well and you have to wear those stupid glasses. Then when those concerns are alleviated it just sinks even lower into a Double Gimmick, apparently. This does nothing to dissuade me from my theory that the anti-3D "backlash" is at its core more rooted in some kind of obstinate luddite ideology than in practical concerns.

Also I predict most of the comments about how the 3DS's launch is lackluster will be about how it's all the fault of dirty rotten 3D, ignoring the fact that the launch titles simply aren't that good as games, were they on any console.

Tesco just threw a curveball and reduced their launch price to £175 from midnight ...

    Added:

Currys now selling 3DS for £179, and something to do with a £75 voucher book ...

SF4 Is the best of the launch titles. But it still won't get me to let go of my DSLite, the best version of the console so far.

Maybe when Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright comes out, or the next Pokemon game I might look into getting one. Might.

No score? No battery life mention, despite it being the talk of the internet for months? Actually, you reviewed the whole system in 2 pages? (1215 words...)

Seriously, what happened to the enjoyably long Bit-Tech reviews that were in-depth? I used to value your opinions over every other site, but if you maintain this trend of superficiality I'll be going elsewhere. Your hardware reviews are still spot on, informative and detailed, but software is just going downhill - and somehow that's justified the spin-off Bit-Gamer?

I've not looked at any other reviews yet but this one still leaves a number of questions:

    Battery Life?
Is it still compatible with DS games?
If so, do they look any better/worse with the higher res screen?
Does it still have the SD card slot of the DSi/DSi XL?
