I always found these types of games torture, it appears the Chinese prison service agrees.

I can imagine WoW addicts packing their cases and heading off to China. Free food and 12 hour daily sessions of WoW?

I can think of worse things to spend your time on in jail. Aside from the beatings it doesn't sound that bad lol. I used to play East-Asian mmos for hours and hours everyday out of choice. Can't find the motivation these days, the time sink on their games is immense. Plus I lack the free time nowadays to sit there for 12hours leveling like a fiend.

I know Chinese prisons are meant to be rough places, but surely some of this has to be an exaggeration?
carving toothpicks and chopsticks from planks of wood? really?
Human rights abuses, yes, that probably happens, but toothpicks from planks?

£500 divided by 300 so not that much if you tried it yourself. As for the prisoners i feel nothing for them, they break the law they pay the price.

I doubt the uk prison population could better them tho, most of our scumbags would cry for their "human rights" and quickly settle back down to some mindless gta 4 on their ps3's.

You wouldn't want to be mining in wow for 12 hours a day, let alone playing wow in the first place

No offense but doesn't this sound at least slightly ******** to y'all? Especially with the tooth picks and chop sticks stuff? Not to mention the communist crap?

Breaking the law in China could simply be speaking out against the government. If you read the actual Guardian article you will see this chap was guilty of "illegally petitioning" the central government about corruption.

It is heartbreaking that the largest (by population) and one of the most powerful countries in the world feels it appropriate to torture political prisoners.

Human race still has a long way to go.

well, to be fair it is their country. It is not ideal, but they have to play the system and work with what they got to get around it to make it work with them. Same thing with benefit cheats playing the system here.

That would be quite fun to see!!
to be honest it just seems pointless as a lot of people have said 12 hours a day playing games and free food i wish i could do that!

Well to be fair this highlights the difference between legality and morality.

Could you explain to me how that is "to be fair"? After that you can explain it to the thousands of Chinese prisoners jailed for saying they don't like their government.
