I've never really seen the point of the 2600/2600K/2700K. There are precious few people willing to pay an extra £70-£80 for a 100Mhz stock clock increase and hyperthreading. Intel's pricing strategy really is crazy.

Sir, I think that you forget that the 2600K and 2700K are unlocked processors, and hence offer proper overclocking capabilities

So's the i5-2500k though - which can be overclocked to basically the same amount, and for £80 less than even this reduced price.

The 2700k is a 2600k with an increased multi, they aren't clocking any better at the moment according to people who've tested 20+ on LN2.

If you do regular video transcoding then the extra threads on the 2600k/2700k nets you about 20/30% quicker renders because vid editing software is optimized for more than 4 threads (so its worth it for some people, but not gamers at the minute).

@r3loaded, depends on what you do with your computer. sure, the i7 series offer only slight increase over i5 for gamers, but what about those of us that do a whole lot of other stuff that use the extra capability? the tech isn't just badge re-engineering!

This thing is an extra 130 dollars over the 2600k so your basically paying 130 for 100 mhz no thank you. I'd say just grab a 2600k instead.

In the UK a 5% discount on newly released PC Hardware is unfortunately rare, so rare its news worthy...

I don't really get why Yoyotech should get all this free advertising?

Well I don't believe Yoyotech paid Bit-tech to write that article. If they did it would raise a load of moral questions about the journalistic ethics of Bit-tech.

Wow, you try to tell people about a new deal on a product they might be interested in and they accuse you of being corrupt.

    :(
