So... SFF builders.
But, you would make sure plenty of air was blowing through, wouldn't you?
Considering how common massive thermal issues are in prebuilts... yeah I'd say AMD is spot on in adding sensors to measure ambient temp in the case.
Just because we know better doesn't mean multi million (or even multi billion) companies do.
Have you seen most SFF builds?... they don't know the meaning of the word airflow...
And as @Anfield said, neither do OEMs who are still using in 2022 case designs that were first stamped out in 2002.
In my case, Fractal Design Define R5 and 5 140mm fans do the job. Quiet and cool. Added to which, my big clumsy hands wouldn't work well in a midget case.
BTW, a long time ago I bought a case from Currys, with one small intake vent and a single fan, exhaust behind the CPU. Was OK at first, until I upgraded. With a Core2 Duo and an unnamed new graphics card (no memory of what it was...) it sounded like a Dyson V10 on max power and, ran hot...
Just seen that Gigabyte are launching a white RTX4080, available from Monday.
Worryingly, that makes it suit my current build!
looks like the PCB isn't white which is a shame
The Define R5 is many things, 'SFF' it is not.
Rubbish, it's SFF compared to the Define XL
TJ07 was the SFF king
and it had a fair degree of air-flowiness
I do believe you're talking out of your arse.
Most SFF enthusiasts are keenly aware of airflow requirements.
Indeed so, I had noticed that...
More room for big w@nking spanners to work inside.
Scan are having a " RTX4080 launch event" instore on Wednesday at 2pm, with actual stock on the shelves.
EDIT - Forgot to mention this is an IRL event.
Will shops collapse under the scalpers F5ing them to death at 1:59 or 2:01? place your bets now...
It's an IRL instore event. If you're there, you can't be scalped (except by Scan).
So the 4070, I mean 80, is as fast as a 3090Ti at the same price.
Gotta love how the AIBs where all like: "Lets just keep the comedy size of the 4090 for the 4080"...
I tried to watch some review vids but... CBA
My 3090 is far more powerful than I currently need, so I have zero interest in anything Nvidia is doing right now. Especially considering their efforts to put scalpers out of business, by gouging their own customers.
I do hope AMD kicks them squarely in the nads, come Dec 13th.
