Anyone have any good / bad experiences? My Acer 20.1 inch died this morning. 19 Days out of Warranty. Thinking about upgrading to a 22/23 inch. 24 seems a bit big for my desk (and I from time to time get motion sick on FPS games on 24" screens) I'm leaning away from 22" screens because their max resolution is typically 1680x1050, which is already what I play on a 20", widening that to 22" might look poor. I'm leaning towards 23" screens because they're slightly bigger, allow 1920x1080, but not as big as 24", and seem to have a great price point.
Have a quick read of this post, GoodBytes has done some thorough research around monitors. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=2393361&postcount=4
Finally had a bit more time to read his post and look at those Dell Monitors. Sadly they're about 2-300 dollars out of my budget, I should have stated earlier that my max budget is 225. Any other recommendations out there?
Actually I can find about 20 at that price and below. Samsung's run at a bit of a premium, but I think thats due to the higher quality.
Actually there is, to my complete surprise! You have this one: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/pro....aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=bsd&cs=cabsdt1&sku=320-8299 or this one: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/pro....aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=bsd&cs=cabsdt1&sku=320-0942 (lower resolution, smaller 22inch, but wider view angle. Similarly priced) TN panel they are, of course.. but it's a monitor! Be sure to CALL Dell to order, as you negotiate a price with them. Doesn't work? Try again! They give you free cables, or warranty extension or price drop or a mix.
Interesting - someone linked that same monitor to me from another forum, and it's listed at 229. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-8299 Not that I wouldn't like one of those swanky monitors in your other post, but I'm already dropping 2 grand on my new rig + modding it, and just don't have the money for one of those.
Would it be worth being talked into one of these to the tune of 320? http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-9270
Well, its over your budget. I don't want you to use credit to afford something. It's an e-IPS panel, very good stuff. But it lacks any pre-calibrated colors, so you'll have the monitor with "Store shelf" settings (like I like to call it), which would need to be adjusted, but other than that, it's a very good one for the price. The monitor is on my comparison table. Here is a TFT Central review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2311h.htm The U2311H is the same panel as the latest revision of the U2410 (side note: TFT central reviews the first revision of the panel.. which had problems) - both are LG. Dell has the 22, 23, 24, 27inch of this panel, and the 30inch is coming soon.
LG W2261VP 22" LCD Widescreen Full HD Gaming Monitor 1920 x 1080 im loving this monitor i know its 22" but its full hd and does the resolution you stated you want and is £130 ish which is pretty good i think.
yeah and its a nice design the on off switch is even a groovy touch sensor on a tab on the bottom of the screen i really like it
Its' cheaper at amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VH236H-Inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B002453K5G) The frame is glossy, and view angle is exceptional small at only 160 degree in all directions. Usually TN panels are 170degree horizontal and 160 vertical. Be warned with glossy stuff, it's extremely easy to scratch and the scratch are very visible. What worries me with this monitor, is the lack if official reviews. But, I suppose a monitor is better than no monitor. I notice that your are in US, the Dell monitor I showed you are in Canada. The monitor I presented are cheaper. The ST2310 23inch 1920x1080 is 229$ The E2210 22inch 1680x1050 is 209$ Or I just noticed the E2210H 22inch 1920x1028 is 179$ on special: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-8241
Just an update: Purchased the Dell ST2310B (Black Bezel as opposed to white) Stellar monitor, no dead pixels, fantastic stand. No fluff like USB ports or Speakers which I don't need. Got it for a steal, $179 Dollars at best buy plus $40 for the Four Year Geek Squad Warranty (as opposed to the 1 year Dell Limited Warranty). Only downside - My DVD's look mediocre on it because of how high a quality the pixel density is! C'est la vie! (That is to say, it doesn't look any different if I were watching a TV from the same distance. From increased distance it looks better.) Games look amazing, loving the extra room over 1680x1050 I was worried that I'd get hosed not going e-IPS or other jargon, but honestly, for a guy that sits in front of his computer and plays games, the monitor does everything that I want it to. If I want to lay in bed and watch a movie, just turn the monitor and angle it down. Simple enough for me.
