You might see a small but still significant difference, however i would say that your GFX card is the bottleneck in your system.

oh yes, the extra 512mb will make a big differnece, games will be smoother and load times will probably be reduced as well.. Generally the OS will be much happier and speedier

You will definitely see an improvement, especially on a graphically intensive game like NFS:U. XP is also quite the memory hog with all of the GUI goodies turned on, like transperancy and shadowing.

there isnt much performance difference between agp 4x and 8x anyway. Your GFX is basically a GF2 hotted up. Having said that i did say you will notice the difference but frame rate in games wont be massivly improved. Your windows experiance will no doubt be more enjoyable though.

Yes. Battlefield 1942 would be the prime example. I've seen it on a systems with both 512 and 256mb RAM, and the difference is almost night and day, especially with load times, since the maps are HUGE.

I'd expect DX9 titles to just about require 512mb RAM as well.

Yea BF is a major ram hawg, I compared 512mb of ram to 768mb, and 768mb made the game load and run much smoother...

Even with 512mb of ram, I still only have about 60-70% free on startup (running XP) so yea, they're both ram hogs... and if you ever have the chance to run NFS underground on a 9800XT tricked out system... DO IT! It's simply amazing!
