I got my scythe akma bay amp out last weekend to test a pair of JBL Control One speakers i picked up for my desktop. It seems to drive them fine though i keep getting feedback issues, i'm going to have another go with it this weekend and maybe try it with some gale monitors or CA S30s, and try some different sources (currently using the pre-out on a Fiio E9 and apprently that can be fernickety).

I really like the look of those speakers, haven't built any myself but my understanding is that changing the cabinet dimensions/shape will change the sound in some way, but not necesarily negatively.

My understand is to keep the sound (more or less) the same; you need to keep two volumes the same - the top boxed off section for the two mids and the tweet, and the larger volume for the sub - you also need to keep the port on the back the same area.

Looking at their drawings, if you're going to make it wider and shorter - then you'll probably need to add extra cut board to either inner side of the mid/tweet box to keep its volume constant, I don't think you can make it less deep. I wouldn't make the rear port shorter, but would make it narrower... if that makes any sense...
