256mb now 128mb ??

I noticed my ram is coming up as 128mb, i have tried other ram in my pc and it comes up as its actual size, the ram is generic 256mb ddr PC2100 DIMM package. What you think might have happened? it just dead :'( i will prob get ADATA.
I have had 5 computer related problems today :S joy. still i remain posative

 

I get that on my Laptop, although, I shake it around a bit and it works again... I think it's a loose connection on the ram slot. Try taking the ram out and reseating it, that might fix it.

 

I have also had this problem and it was just sorted by me taking it out and firmly pushing it back in - make sure its in completely

 

the first thing i did was take it out, i cleaned it with alcohol (not banks's bitter!) slapped it back in another slot. So im not sure it was that :S

 

i think its FUBAR'ed so i need some more, so 256mb or 512mb, think its worth it, corsair or ADATA?? looking at getting from www.cpucity.co.uk i know the corsair is gonna cost more, but is it worth the extra, i was gonna get 2x 256mb CL2.5 450 which will come to about £80 but 512 corsair will cost £100. whay are your opinions? i hope that made some sense at least.

nope, so i know having 2 sticks will be slightly slower, but afaik it doesnt make muck difference

 

I'd be spending the extra to get the Corsair. You should be able to run CL2 with that too.

 

its payday in a week, and if they dont tax me again i shud get some i think.Thanks.
