    as title....

Seems a bit odd to me. It's a 256MB module of generic PC2100 RAM but in my Chaintech Mobo it's showing as 128...

    I'm perplexed.

well, I thought that. But the chips are labelled up correctly.

    (16MX16)*8

which is for a 256MB module.

I am guessing that you have tried the DIMM on it's own without any of the other 256Mb modules in. If it is still detected as 128MB then try it in another system if possible - I had some similar problems recently with my system when one of my 256MB DIMMs died and I added another 2 x 256MB to replace it. In the end I just rearranged the modules until the motherboard was happy, though I did have to use slightly less agressive memory settings in the BIOS to get it running stable.

I had this same problem. Take it out and clean it well and stick it back in. That worked for me

I've had a 128 module show up as 256, turned out to be faulty...

    different situation though.
